Pathology of Melanoma
2020, Surgical Clinics of North AmericaCitation Excerpt :A high rate of amelanotic lesions also pose a diagnostic challenge. Tumor markers, however, such as S-100, tyrosinase, HMB-45, and MART-1, confirm melanocytic origin.72 Genetically, PMMs show a higher frequency of KIT mutations.73
Malignant melanoma of the lip spreading in a pagetoid manner into the minor salivary glands
2002, Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology, and EndodonticsCitation Excerpt :Other antibodies such as MART-1 and anti-S-100 could be used as well. A notice of caution is in place: some monoclonal antibodies to S-100 do not react with oral melanomas.11 This case report, coupled with our extensive review of the literature, suggests that pagetoid extension of oral or labial melanoma along the ducts of salivary glands is a rare form of melanoma spread.
