2022, Developmental CellEpitope mimicry analysis of SARS-COV-2 surface proteins and human lung proteins
2021, Journal of Molecular Graphics and ModellingCitation Excerpt :NK2 homeobox 1 is a transcription factor that is expressed in the early development of the lung and thyroid gland [35]. It is also involved in the synthesis of the surfactant proteins A, B, and C [35]. Furthermore, it was found that it regulates the expression of ABCA3 proteins, thus, NKX2-1 is required for the normal structure of surfactant which is important for the alveolar function and lowering the alveoli surface tension [27].
Clinicopathological and prognostic significance of thyroid transcription factor-1 expression in small cell lung cancer: A systemic review and meta-analysis
2019, Pathology Research and PracticeCitation Excerpt :Thyroid transcription factor-1 (TTF-1) was initially regarded as a thyroid-specific gene transcription activator and also known as TITF-1 or Nkx2-1 [4]. It is mainly expressed in the thyroid glands, lungs and brain [5]. In normal adult lungs, it is restricted to express in type II pneumocytes and Clara cells [6]; it has also been reported that TTF-1 plays a crucial role in regulating the expression of several genes such as the Clara cell protein and surfactant [7,8].

2019, Kendig's Disorders of the Respiratory Tract in ChildrenTTF-1/Nkx2.1 functional connection with mutated EGFR relies on LRIG1 and β-catenin pathways in lung cancer cells
2018, Biochemical and Biophysical Research CommunicationsCitation Excerpt :TTF-1 also termed Nkx2.1 and T/EBP (thyroid-specific enhancer binding protein), plays an essential role in the correct development of the thyroid, lung and forebrain [3]. In the lung of adult animal, TTF-1 expression persists in the terminal respiratory unit (TRU) including alveolar epithelial cells, mainly type II cells, and in Clara secretory cells [3,4]. TTF-1 controls the expression of the Surfactant proteins A, B and C in lung type II cells and Clara secretory protein in Clara cells [5,6].
