We have presented a possible novel candidate for a neurofibroma cell component, which would be responsible for its heterogeneity in cell population.1 This candidate takes the form of vacuolated cells within the perineurium, which more or less surrounds the expanded endoneurium (fig 1).2 As only this cell expresses both S-100 related antigen and CD34, it qualifies as a candidate for a cell similar in nature to neural crest stem cell in neurofibroma.1
