Kapoor et al. (1) investigated pseudohyperkalemia in outpatients and attributed many of the cases to hematological abnormalities or delay in specimen centrifugation or clotting. Plasma is often recommended as the preferred specimen in patients with leukocytosis, erythrocytosis or thrombosis (2).
