Sudhra Kini's Thyroid cytopathology; an atlas and text will certainly be warmly received as a replacement reference by readers familiar with her previous book, Thyroid; guides to clinical aspiration biopsy, of which the second edition was published in 1996 by Igaku-Shoin. In fact Thyroid cytopathology, as acknowledged by the author, is essentially a third edition to her previous work. Thus, this new iteration of the book follows the previous versions to a marked degree. It contains introductory chapters on fine needle aspiration techniques, cytopreparation and basic assessment of cytologic samples, followed by a review of specific entities, but the new text does show some welcomed updating with formatting changes and some additions. …
