Survey of UK histopathologists’ approach to the reporting of resection specimens for carcinomas of the pancreatic head
Abstract
To assess UK histopathologists’ approach to reporting resection specimens for carcinomas of the pancreatic head. Questions were asked using an online survey service. The responses revealed considerable variation in dissection and sampling procedures, interpretation of histology, and the structure of services in the UK. Assessment of resection margins was a notable area of inconsistency. Information in guidelines and better support for some centres could help reduce the observed differences in practice.
