TY - JOUR T1 - Cell structure and percent viability by a slide centrifuge technique. JF - Journal of Clinical Pathology JO - J Clin Pathol SP - 191 LP - 194 DO - 10.1136/jcp.35.2.191 VL - 35 IS - 2 AU - M G Fitzgerald AU - C S Hosking Y1 - 1982/02/01 UR - http://jcp.bmj.com/content/35/2/191.abstract N2 - It was found that a slide centrifuge (Cytospin) preparation of a cell suspension allowed a reliable assessment of not only cell structure but also the percentage of non-viable cells. The non-viable cells appeared as "smear" cells and paralleled in number the cells taking up trypan blue. Direct experiment showed the unstained viable cells in a trypan blue cell suspension remained intact in a Cytospin preparation while the cells taking up trypan blue were the "smear" cells. The non-viability of the "smear" cells was confirmed by their inability to survive in culture. ER -
