The summaries are mere guidelines and personal opinions of the two authors. The articles selected are diverse but occasionally reflect the authors’ bias and are from the more widely read pathology journals. It is not intended to be an assiduous search of every publication in every Pathology journal, but more of a general indication of some of the monthly highlights through the eyes of the authors.Hopefully, these snippets will provide the reader with enough to glean some facts and tips, as well as encourage them to read the entire article if necessary.Chetty R, Serra S. An immunohistochemical approach and evaluation of solid pseudopapillary tumour of the pancreas. J Clin Pathol 2008;61:1153–9.In this “My Approach” series, there is clarification of the immunohistochemistry of solid pseudopapillary tumour (SPT) of the pancreas: β-catenin staining is nuclear and cytoplasmic (as a result of β-catenin mutation). E-cadherin staining with the extracellular domain antibody: loss of membranous staining. When using the cytoplasmic domain antibody: there is nuclear expression. CDH1 gene mutation uncommon is uncommon in SPTs. CD10 and progesterone immunoreactivity adds to diagnosis.Agostinelli C, Piccaluga PP, Went P, et al. Peripheral T cell lymphoma, not otherwise specified: the stuff of genes, dreams and therapies. J Clin Pathol 2008;61:1160–7.Peripheral T cell lymphomas account for about 12% of all lymphomas, however morphological and molecular variability in half the cases prevents further classification and they are thus consigned to the “not otherwise specified” category. This overview explores the gene expression profile of these lymphomas and possibilities for targeted therapy.Bussolati G, Leonardo E.
