AB  - This short report briefly describes the principles underlying the telepathology technique known as whole slide imaging, and the design and implementation of a system for acquisition and visualisation of digital slides. The developed system, including an acquisition module and a visualisation module, is available as an open source on the Internet, together with sample acquired slides.
