Pre-analytical effects of pneumatic tube system transport on routine haematology and coagulation tests, global coagulation assays and platelet function assays
2017, Thrombosis ResearchCitation Excerpt :This is why the results of this study cannot be extended, without great caution, to all centres using PTS having different characteristics. The speed of our PTS is 5.2 m/s, which belongs to the high average speed of PTS transport described in literature, with a range from 3 m/s to 8 m/s [2,4,9,11,19,23,33], but systems with lower speeds might have different results than those presented in this study. In conclusion, despite the promising results obtained with the longest PTS yet to be tested, each laboratory should evaluate their own PTS before using it in daily practice, especially for the transport of platelet samples and before global haemostasis assays.
