Triphala, an Ayurvedic formulation improves the antioxidant status on TNBS induced IBD in rats
2014, European Journal of Integrative MedicineCitation Excerpt :Although, etiology of IBD is largely obscure, the inflammation is clearly attributed to sustained, uncontrolled production of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species. Dysfunction of immune system is also thought to be responsible to chronic inflammation and increasing complications in IBD [34,35]. It was therefore thought appropriate to study modulation of antioxidant status in colon tissue of TNBS induced IBD in rats with Triphala treatment.
Clinical Course in Crohn's Disease: Results of a Norwegian Population-Based Ten-Year Follow-Up Study
2007, Clinical Gastroenterology and HepatologyCitation Excerpt :Our study design, with uniform classification of each case at diagnosis first by a local specialist and second by one from a university hospital, might be an important advantage of the present population-based study, as compared with the multi-center approach of the earlier mentioned European study.16 The finding of a lower risk of surgery among patients older than 40 years of age at diagnosis (A2) is in agreement with previous data16 and might indicate a milder course of disease with increasing age.26 Of other factors influencing the course of CD, smoking is an established risk factor.27
