Sulphomucins and precancerous lesions of the human stomach

Histopathology. 1980 May;4(3):271-9. doi: 10.1111/j.1365-2559.1980.tb02921.x.

Abstract

The histochemical demonstration of sulphomucin secretion by gastric adenomatous polyps and adjacent metaplastic epithelium suggests this glycoprotein may be a marker of premalignant change. A possible relationship with fetal sulphoglycoprotein antigen is discussed.
