'No evidence for a direct role of Helicobacter pylori and Mycoplasma pneumoniae in carotid artery atherosclerosis' the authors conclude that the absence and/or random distribution of select pathogens (i.e. H pylori and M pneumoniae) precludes their direct role in the development of atherosclerosis.
